Hitting hard and fast!Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Hello,
I've been lurking at the showrods site for awhile now, and I want to send you pictures of my entry for the contest. this is to go into the VW class.

This car started out as the polar lights herbie the luv bug kit. All I used out of that kit is the body, hood, and 2 of the chrome hubcaps. The frame is from a polar lights funny car, and I shortened it to fit the VW wheelbase. The engine is the polar lights hemi, with twin blowers from a 53 Studebaker kit. I filed down the tops of the injector ports at angle so that the scoops would stand up more, plus I had to do this to get them to fit inside the body. I ran spark plug wires to a Image hosted by Photobucket.com scratch built distributor, and a scratchbuilt coil box. I ran fuel lines from the moon tank to the fuel pump (suction line and return line). The line then runs up to a scratch built fuel block between the 2 blowers. 4 fuel lines come out of the block, and one runs to each injector port. I also ran oil lines from the dual oil filters into the engine. I painted the frame and engine bright red, and clear coated them. The frame is built out of the box, except for the fact that I shortened it in the front right behind where the radius rods go onto the frame. I scratch built a hinge system for the body so it can tilt up & down like a real funny car. I did a lot of work to the body as well. I filled in some holes that were on the roof where the canvass top was to be snapped into. I filled the front turn signal light holes, front and rear bumper holes, rear tail light holes, i shaved off the door handles,  removed the windshield wipers, removed the hood and trunk handles, and removed the chrome trim from the center of the hood. I also radiused all 4 of the wheel wells quite a bit. Once all of the body work was sanded smooth, I painted the body with gray primer. final paint color on the body is gloss black, with many coats of clear inside and out. I made the windshield and the side windows out of clear plastic sheet. There is not a rear window in it because the roll bar sticks out of the window opening. I added dual parachutes out back, and ran cords to them that I made out of cotton strings.  The name Blitzkrieg just came to me because I picture this car being like a swift surprise attack at any drag strip. The decals came from slippery arts, and they fit this black sinister car perfectly.  Hope you like it.

thanks,
Mr. Iron Cross
