Now THAT is Red Delicious!

This is my VW van that I call "Crab Apple". I built this as a slammer, with no interior.  The front and rear wheels & tires are from a Muscle Machine, as well as the injection set up.  There is no engine in it; I epoxied the injection intake to a piece of cardboard that i sprayed flat black, then cut the hole in the roof, and epoxied the cardboard inside so the  injection would stick out. It has red fuel lines on it, and
linkage.

IImage hosted by Photobucket.com sprayed the windshield and door windows flat black from the inside. I made the rear window out of a piece of clear plastic, also sprayed flat black from the inside. The headers are aluminum tubing, painted black on the inside.  I made the chassis out of flat aluminum sheet...very basic. I made the wheelie bar out of a piece of coat hanger, and the wheelie wheels are aluminum slot car items with o-ring tires.

I sprayed the body with gray primer, followed by a nice shiny coat of silver aluminum paint. Over the silver, I sprayed a few coats of candy apple red. I mixed up some clear and I added some real copper pearl dust to it. I sprayed one good coat of that over the red, followed by 3 coats of straight clear. In some light it looks red, in other light it looks orange. This was all done with my airbrush, and my very first attempt at using pearl powder.
