"Low buck - high performance!"Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This car was built using a tiny black and white
picture from an old Rod and Custom magazine article on the dunes and related cars. This style of buggy was called a "Tunnel Job", and was based on hacking everything non-essential off of a VW Beetle.  All I had was a rear 3/4 shot, but I managed to track down all of the right parts. Built as a low buck car, the paddle tires are on steelies, motorcycle tires as per the photo are up front on a stock length frame with a shortened floor plan.

The engine has a larger aircleaner and exhaust pipes made from pipes from an MPC Bed Buggy. Having owned many VW's I was able to make the front steering close with parts box bits. It was a real fun build and I'm very happy with the results.
