DEATH TRAP- (Kit-bash) by Dave McGowan
Screaming down the strip on a date with oblivion,
it's the Death Trap!
Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to build the Bad Medicine. The box artwork was like a fishing lure for the adolescent boy.
When I finally got hold of one a couple of months ago, I found that I wasn't in love with the proportions of the body from the cowl forward, so it was immediately lopped off in favor of a "Fuel Altered" look. The top received a wedge-chop for more attitude. The space-frame style chassis was sourced from a Buterra T kit, but was turned around backward before the funny car coil-over sprung front axle was installed. Engine, rear suspension, interior, wheels and tires from the Bad Medicine were retained. Front wheels were sourced from the Vampire Van, and a Beer Wagon donated the Hydrazine tank perched on the front crossmember.
The Death Trap theme was inspired by the skeletal driver, casket-style upholstery and pictures of green flame-spouting fuel cars running on highly toxic/volatile hydrazine.

Furthering the theme is a padlock keeping the drag chute from being released and leg irons chaining the poisoned, corroded driver into his wheel-standing ride. Paint is House of Kolors "Lime Time Pearl" with Tamiya "Candy Lime" faded in from the bottom of the body and scoop. "Bones Speed Shop" and pinstripe decals are from K-Dog graphics, while the "Death Trap" and "A/FU" lettering were done by hand.
You may notice that most pictures were taken from the LH side of the car - this was due to the bi-directional wrinkle-wall slicks, which only seem to twist the "right" way when viewed from this angle.
