Tom Daniels
Beer Wagon was the basis for this holiday kitbash. I started by "unchopping"
the c-cab, adding some height with sheet styrene on the sides, and an entire
new rear wall. Everything was filled with Zap-a-Gap and smoothed, then
airbrushed with House of Kolors Kandy Organic Green, and Kandy Red Apple over
a silver micro-flake basecoat. All of the custom decal work was done by Dan
Warford of Slippery Arts. I also used some bare-metal foil on different areas
of the body. The "elf-shoe" roofline was made from sheet aluminum. All of the
running gear, including front axle/ski assembly, and the rear tank-tread
assembly is from the rare old 1/16 Rupp Snow Dragster kit. I had a glue bomb
sitting around for many years, and made the decision to hack it for the sake
of this
build! The
headers from the same kit were used on the motor, along
with a tall tunnel ram from the parts bin with some milled aluminum stacks.
The candy cane posts on
the rear are strung with real working Christmas lights. Both are from the
crafts store. One of my favorite parts I made is the shifter. Look closely at
the straight-pin, which is bent and topped with a tiny snowman head wearing
his top hat! I didn't quite finish this build. I plan on adding some
packages in the rear bed, and the electrical wiring has to be finished to
power the lights. I am going to make a holiday base for it all to sit on.
This was a fun challenge, all in the spirit of Christmas!
